BABY DELL: EMILY JANE

Thursday 2014-04-17 at about 07:00 it all started with Nikki`s mucus plug coming down,Nikki was more than prepared to go to work but returned a few minutes later.I was still half asleep and did not actually know what was going on. I was like what happens now? Nikki suggested we follow the Doctors orders and go directly to Hospital.

On our arrival Nikki was hooked up onto a CTG machine to monitor Babies heart and Nikki`s contractions.It felt as if time was standing still but was not, I slipped away for a quick smoke and at 10:30 Nikki informed me that she was going in for a C section at 11:15.

Arrangements were made for Nana to pick up Joshua as i informed the school i would pick him up half day at 12:00.

11:15 Nikki was wheeled off to Theater and of course i followed, i was taken away and asked to put the necessary protective clothing on and was re-united with Nikki.

We then entered the theater and i was like what are all these people doing here, there must have been about 10 or 12 people all kitted out. I was told to go sit in the corner and then told to come stand in front of Nikki while the anesthetist proceeded to perform a spinal block, I must say that I was very proud of her during this, the anesthetist was also very calm and kept on talking to us and not only encouraged Nikki , but also guaranteed us that everything was going to be ok.

I was told to go sit back in the corner, while they all went about their business and before the procedure started was called back to come and sit next to Nikki.

We could not see much, not that i wanted to, although i did end up seeing some of what was going on.

Any way at 11:55 our beautiful Emily Jane made her appearance, i was immediately asked to follow the pediatrician who had our baby and took her to get weighed measured and was also given a thorough check.

Once she was happy that everything was in order with Emily, it was back to Nikki where Emily was placed onto Nikki`s chest for both of us to admire.

Emily weighed 3,130 kg and measured 51 cm, all was well with our little Princess.

WOW was i emotional, I was just so Happy and Proud, Proud to be a father again and Proud of Nix, who was just so awesome through the whole procedure, Nix i must say has just been so wonderful over the past few days, she has been much more relaxed this time around, she not only looks stunning but is also coping well with things.

Joshua, well he has also been so amazing and i am equally Proud of our Little man or should i say Big Brother, in the past few months building up to Emily`s arrival he has totally surprised me with certain things, he just out of his own would go up to Nikki and put his little arms around her tummy and hug and kiss her, He also talked to his unborn sister and told her he loves her and used to go say good night to her, This on its own was something that touched my heart deep with in.

He also out of his own asked if he could hold Emily, yes he seemed a bit weary in doing this, but i think so did I when i held him the first time.The second time Joshua asked to hold Emily he looked a lot more relaxed as if he had done it many times before, he even had it in him to lean forward and give her a kiss, another Proud moment, moments like these that i will most certainly hold onto and cherish for the rest of my life, i will also encourage him to have the same love he displayed for Emily now in the future.

So far the past 4 days have been WOW WOW WOW, LOL, I dont know how else to explain it all, but Nix Joshua and Emily have all been so awesome.

I also think that this the second time Nix and I are more relaxed and experienced with what has to be done and with what the future holds regarding Emily, with Joshua we had to figure a lot of things out and thank god for google, what we did not know and what nobody could tell, well we just googled it.

I have already chosen a song for Emily, Elton John`s Blue Eyes, she has the most amazing blue eyes, yes they could well change color, but even if they do then so what, this will always be our song, I just want to hold her in my arms and listen to this song, its an awesome song and its Emily and Dads song.
